Producing a Low Flight Shot

Controlling Low Flight of the ball

Going under an Obstacle

I have found myself in a situation where I must produce a Low Flight for an extended period.

I have chosen a #3 wood. Ball placement is normally left of center within the stance to create a high flight. This is not a normal shot, I need to make adjustments. To keep a low trajectory, I must position the ball in the back of my stance.

Some players prefer to play the ball back in the stance with the hands placed ahead of the ball de-lofting the chosen club. This is all well and good, but the delivery of the club is more of a punch shot, not for much distance. To maintain the low trajectory, the hands must stay in front throughout the swing making it difficult to complete a full swing.

I also position the ball back in my stance, but I also position my hands over the ball so to deliver the club head, not to pull the handle, with a low sweeping motion. I can make a full or partial swing controlling the flight, distance as well as the accuracy of the ball.
